Small, fun, and friendly classes. Training is geared towards practising things that will be useful in your everyday life with your dog.
At home, or outside in The New Forest
Obedience sessions are 1-2-1 and can be tailored around your dog’s training needs. Sessions can take place at home, while out on walks or in different environments.
At your home
During the initial assessment Jo will discuss in detail your dog’s behaviour and the problems you have been experiencing. After taking a full history to identify what possible factors my be causing the unwanted behaviour, Jo will develop a behavioural modification plan tailored for you and your dog’s individual needs.
Tuesday evenings at Woodgreen Village Hall, SP6 2AF
This course will help you build a good foundation for your puppy's learning journey, as you both have fun learning together, improving communication, developing trust and strengthening your bond.
Online or at your home
I offer sessions which are full of information and advice to help you prepare for those all important first few weeks of bringing your puppy home. This includes: night time routines, toilet training, chewing and biting, sensitive periods, equipment, common problems, how dogs learn and some obedience training to get you started.

She worked with us both to correct Juke's reactive behaviour towards other dogs and successfully managed to stop him pulling on the lead and lunging towards other dogs. Thanks to Joanne, I now enjoy dog walking and feel much more confident and relaxed about how Juke will behave when we are out."
Dawn & Juke
Contrary to the old saying ‘you can’t teach an old dog new tricks’, dogs love to learn.

Dogs become part of the family and dog ownership is hugely rewarding and enjoyable. However, it is not unusual for dogs to develop unwanted behaviours such as jumping up, begging, excessive barking, pulling on the lead, fears and phobias, anxiety and aggression.

The good news is, that as an owner, you can have a huge influence on your dog’s behaviour and you can quickly establish the new behaviours you’d like to see and avoid those unwanted ones.
This starts with understanding your dog’s breed, natural drives, instincts, diet, experiences and what your dog needs. Together with an understanding of how your dog learns and communicates you can pin-point which behaviours can be changed and which behaviours need to be redirected in a healthy way.

I am a positive reward dog trainer. Reward-based training is a positive reinforcement method that encourages desired behaviours by offering rewards, like treats, praise or toys, when the dog performs a behaviour correctly. This method builds trust between the owner and the dog while making learning enjoyable for both.

"After our new Greek rescue dog Lil started showing behaviour problems, we realised we needed professional help. Jo has given us the tools to work with Lil and her professional approach and knowledge of different methods of behavioural modification are starting to show. Jo has been an important weekly visitor to both Lil and ourselves giving us confidence back in ourselves and our dog. She has also taught us some fun commands that Lil has picked up really quickly that we probably would never have thought of teaching her. Thank you Jo for all your help."
